1. Gestimat

Developed in Quebec within the structure of the Wood Charter and financed by the Fonds vert, Gestimat is an estimation tool for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions linked to the manufacturing of structural materials, which makes it possible to compare different building scenarios in a Quebec context.

Scenario modeling can be done using estimated quantities of materials based on typical buildings or by entering quantities of materials specific to a given project.

As part of the Government leadership measure of the Quebec Wood Charter, Gestimat also allows various provincial ministries and agencies to share the data from their GHG analyses with the ministère des Forêts, de la Faune et des Parcs du Québec (MFFP).

Natural Resource Canada (NRCan) contributed financially to the translation of Gestimat, as well as to its adaptation to allow its future use in other Canadian provinces.

Accessible to everyone, Gestimat has been released online in French in May 2019 and in English in April 2020.

The data obtained concerning material quantities using this tool is made available for the purpose of estimating GHG emissions. Under no circumstances may this data be used for other purposes, such as the design of building structures.
